Looking to start a small business? I’m sure you’ve taken into account how difficult it can be to generate revenue when you’re starting out. Lucky for you, however, there is a lot you can do to promote your business, and actually make sales. If you’re new to the game, we’ve put together four creative ideas to help you generate income for your small business.

Teach a class to locals in your area.

Starting your own business means that you’re an expert at what you do. Why not share your knowledge with others who are aspiring to do the same, or simply learn something new? Hosting a course, or teaching a class is great way to do just this. It’s also an opportunity to meet people – including potential clients – in your city.

There are companies like, General Assembly, you can sign up with as an instructor for industries such as design, marketing, and technology.

You can also host your own courses and use local bulletin boards, or even Craigslist, to promote it. You’ll have more control on the type of courses you want to teach, how much you want to charge, and where you want to teach.

Host an online seminar!

Similar to teaching a class in your city, hosting an online seminar can be a great source of income for your small business as well. Webinars are popular tools  to use if you’re trying to sell your products and services. And you don’t have be as tech savvy as you think to do so!

You can create something as basic as a PowerPoint presentation, that you’ll share in your seminar. You can invite customers and prospects to join in using social media, targeted PPC ads, or using a platform like GoToWebinar.  Looking to tie in your business to your courses? Show your products and services to your students as it relates to any material you present to them.

Create an eCommerce website!

If you have a lot of inventory to start, and haven’t opened the doors to your own brick-and-mortar yet, setting up an eCommerce website should be at the top of your To Do list. If you don’t want to go through the hassle of coding your own website, you can use platforms such as Shopify, WooCommerce, or even eBay, and Amazon!
